Trouble in Paradise by Lyle Howard
Trouble in Paradise:
A Thrilling Supernatural Mystery ebook
By Lyle Howard
This thrilling novel written by Lyle Howard is one of the best mysteries I have had the chance to read this year. It is all about an ex military man called Cal who decided to spend his days running a bar on an island trying to escape the horrors of his past. He saves the life of a local deputy called Arthur and they become fast and long time friends. The two of them take turns in looking after Cal's father who drinks himself to ruin every night to ease the pain of loosing his wife to cancer. One night a mysterious ship ties up on Cal's dock behind his bar and a beautiful girl and her strange farther turn up and create more than a lot of interest. Cal's father goes missing along with a local playboy and his girlfriend. This starts of chain of events that will lead the two friends into danger and intrigue. Cal's past catches up with him and his survival skills prove to save them from certain death. Sadness, horror and terror rule the day and they have to find a way to save the victims and destroy a government sanctioned plot to stem drug runners.
Once I started this book I could not put it down. It is actioned packed and the characters are great. The friendship between Cal and Arthur is brilliant. They are constantly ribbing each other and I thought this was so true to life. The plot to the story was a bit unusual and I was hoping for a bit more romance but it was all good. The book flowed I thought very well and I keep trying to guess what was going to happen next. I really liked the ending as the book leaves you wondering and expecting a sequel
This writer knows how to capture his audience. Not only a talented storyteller but the images that his writing convey transport you to a different country and the possibility that not all the good guys are really the good guys.
I received this book free of charge and am under no obligation to write this review.
